Wed, 17 Sep 2008 19:10:21 +0000http://www.caroftheday.org/?p=38#comment-156I knew there had to be like-minded people in the world. Because the Camry and its progeny aren’t fun to drive and cater to people who merely need transportation appliances, the dun-colored rolling testaments to mediocre aspirations are always driven by people who don’t give a crap about (a) how they are driving (b) rules of the road, and (c) anything else. They’re always in my way, parking over the lines in the lot, and driving around with big scrapes and dents. I’ve got a blanked-out switch in my Volvo that has become the “Anti-Camry Button”, which I diligently press whenever I’m bungled by a bad Camry driver. It’s among the most-used controls in my car.

Wed, 17 Sep 2008 02:33:49 +0000http://www.caroftheday.org/?p=38#comment-155[…] People aren’t buying Camrys to mod them and make them better. They are buying them to go from point A to point B. The entire automotive enthusiast world is lost on them. Camry drivers are really looking for a good selection of beige and other dirt-ish colors so they don’t have to wash their car. I’ve actually heard Camry owners beam about their slop-brown colored car by saying “oh yeah, and you can’t even tell when its dirty.” To which I think, “Great, a car that looks dirty all the time.” I’m going to stop my Camry rant now. (If you want to read more Camry ranting go here.) […]

The only the Camry fits the bill perfectly for is for people who want to drive an appliance. It may be well built, it may be comfy, but it’s fun to drive factor sits squarely at zero. Zero! Take a look around at everyone driving Camrys. Sure it is a top selling car. But it is being sold to people who just want a point A to point B appliance. Boring!

Mon, 25 Aug 2008 18:43:04 +0000http://www.caroftheday.org/?p=38#comment-144You need to be made aware of the fact that people age and when they do, the delights of a taught suspension and nimble handling become secondary to being able to get out of the car after a long trip without buzzing ears and having been bent into a quivering pretzel. Camry fits the bill perfectly. I’m sure there are other large cabin luxury options that compare but not in the same price range, and not with the same gas mileage.

Wed, 21 May 2008 13:55:54 +0000http://www.caroftheday.org/?p=38#comment-38I look forward to your article for two reasons: 1) I am in the market for a new car; and 2) reviews that tell me how wonderful a car I can’t afford is are a lot less interesting than reviews telling me how nice a car is that I can afford.
